Racers from amateur to Pro level will compete all day long in multiple races. It’s the kick-off race on the official USA Cycling Pro Road Tour (PRT), meaning…it’s a big deal! Hundred of pro make and female racers from around the World! “Criterium” is actually a lap race so you’ll see these athletes going around and around, led by the Sunny King Pace Car. So make some noise! Clap your hands! Pump your fists! See the winners crowned on the Sunny King podium throughout the day then stick around for autographs and photos with the racers. If you’re hanging out near the Start/Finish line, you will be able to see action on the backside of the race course by looking up, and watching the Eastman JumboTron. And if you can’t be Downtown all day, watch the races on the E-Box Live Stream at home on your computer, and learn more from official e-stream announcer Brad Sohner. To watch, simply visit www.AnnistonCycling.com for details.

The Sunny King Criterium will feature a 1 mile course, which covers a large square downtown: From the intersection of Noble Street and 11th street (the Start/Finish) travel east on 11th to Wilmer. Turn left (north) on Wilmer to 13th street. Turn left (west) on 13th, crossing Noble to Gurnee. Turn left (south) on Gurnee to 11th street. Turn left (east) on 11th and complete the loop at 11th and Noble. Racers will speed around this course for a set number of minutes (some races are 30 minutes. The more advanced races are 60 minutes in duration). The first cyclist to cross the finish line on the last lap when time runs out wins.
What is the Music Cafe?
Sit down, and enjoy the musical talent of a variety of local and regional acts throughout the day. A new artist with a new style of music will fire up every hour on the hour from 11:00am to 6:00pm, with the sweet sounds wrapping up a little before the start of the Sunny King Criterium Pro Men’s race at 7:00p. What are the kids’ bike and running races?
So popular…so fun! The Mellow Mushroom Mad Dash running race for kids is an exciting, one-lap trot around the three-quarters of a mile bike race course, with a super awesome finish before fans! The Mellow Mushroom Mad Dash starts at 4:50p. Kids from tricycle-age to Grade 6 will pedal their bikes a few hundred yards, and cross the “big kids” Finish Line of the Sunny King Criterium course in front of thousands of cheering fans. The Scion/YMCA Kidz Bike Race will start at 5:20p. Have your cameras ready, and get ready to post and tweet! There is a fee to participate in each race (and a discount if kids race both); register at Classic on Noble on Saturday, March 28, from noon to 4:00p. T-shirts for every participant (while supplies last)!
Is this a family event?
Absolutely! Kids of ALL ages will find Saturday afternoon in Downtown Anniston fun, entertaining and giggle-worthy!
Is there a cost to attend?
The 2015 Noble Street Festival is FREE to attend! Many of the activities for kids are free, including art activities and projects, performances on the Scion KidZone stage and more! Some kids’ attractions, such as rides, bouncy houses, face painting, and balloons do require tickets, which can be purchased from one of four designated Noble Bank ticket tents. Cheering on the cyclists from around the world at the Sunny King Criterium is free…as is listening to live performances from area musicians in the Music Café.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are allowed; in fact, we will have an area in the KidZone benefiting the Humane Society, however, they MUST be kept on a leash at all times! The cyclists speed around the race course at very high rates of speed, and a runaway dog in the road would be very dangerous. Thanks for keeping your best friend close to you at your side!
